Ernestina Sodi Speaks
Ernestina Sodi, one of Thalia’s sisters that were kidnapped a few years back, has released a book about her ordeal as a hostage. She dedicated the book to Thalia because not only did she pay for her freedom, but Thalia also gave shelter when she was let go, in fear that they would come back to get her.
Couldn’t we have let this go? You were kidnapped. We felt bad and were very glad to hear that you were released safe and sound, but it’s been years now and we don’t want to hear it anymore. Stop milking this for more money.

Ernestina Sodi is soo preety I believe she does not need this kind of exposure, but when people go trough traumatic events, it has been documented that the mind overreact, she seems sincere and I feel the subject of kidnapping is very serious in mexico and everywhere, also think that the real exposure is on the mexican government that cant guarantee citizens safety, concentrate on that and stop bad mouthing Ernestina. A kidnapping is a very hard thing to “let go”, like sexual child abuse is, rape or domestic violence. You dont forget, you learn to cope with it and sharing your storie and helping raise awarness is a way to do so. You say you dont wanna “hear” about it, then don’t even “talk” about it you are only giving her more publicity. And she has EVERY right to “milk” it. Just like cancer survivors, rehabilitated drug addicts or just people who went from rags to riches write and profit from their stories. There is more to it than just money. But she has every right to that money down tot he last penny. Nobody paid for her medical treatment and years of counseling, not the goverment, not the kidnappers. She is entitled and free to share, publish and profit from her story.
