Barbara Bermudo, You’re Not That Much Younger
According to Peopleenespanol.com, Barbara Bermudo made some unnecessary comments about Maria Celeste Arrarás, and of course Maria Celeste is not happy about it at all. Barbara is the host of Univision’s news show Primer Impacto and Maria Celeste is the host of Telemundo’s equivalency Al Rojo Vivo and she has made appearances on American shows, like Today on NBC. During an interview in Puerto Rico, Barbara was asked if she would crossover into the Anglo market like Maria Celeste has been and is doing so successfully. Her response:
“At the moment no. Maria Celeste, for example, is a person that has reached a certain age [45] where she has to, up to a certain point, move. I don’t want to call her old, no, but I still have many years ahead of me.
Maria Celeste responded by saying:
“It is a comment that demonstrates a total lack of being in touch with her audience. Evidently, she doesn’t recognize that a large part of her audience is made up of working women of my age (…) I am the first that announces her age in all directions and am very proud of my accomplishments. My experience has taught me that when you’re on top, you always get stones thrown at from the bottom.”
Barbara’s comments make no sense. She showed no class or respect for Maria Celeste. We all know Maria Celeste is accomplishing great feats and is showcasing the face of Latinos in the right format. Applause for Maria Celeste. Boo for Barbara.
