Shakira and ALAS Make Huge Donation
Shakira met with New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and former President Bill Clinton to discuss the initiatives that ALAS is undertaking in Latin American countries.
She announced that ALAS will donate 40 million dollars to help those affected by the earthquake in Peru and the hurricane in Nicaragua.
As if that wasn’t enough she also made mention that an additional five million dollars will go toward health and education services in four Latin American countries.
Two words for Shakira and the rest of ALAS members - THANK YOU!

I love Shakira! she’s one of the few artists who really appreciate their people and are doing something positive with her fame/popularity in order to help them. I think if everyone would be like that (whether famous with money or not) and our world would be such a better place for everyone.

She truly deserves the respect of every Latino and Latin American. She is obviously a person to look up to.

She truly is a great person, not just with the big, obvious causes but also little things. I read that when she played Croatia a young fan needed money for an operation and she was more than happy to foot the bill!
I also think the Latin community should be very proud of how she’s representing them around the world instead of picking on her for singing in English and having blonde hair. You guys need an ambassador, and she’s fantastic!
