We’re very sad to say that Jorge Lavat has passed away.
The grand Mexican actor and icon died from complications from an infection as a result of surgery on his spine.
Our condolences to his family. He will be missed.

How very sad. he is in Gods hands now. Its very sad that he suffered 40years of back pain and then finally decides to under go surgery and this happens. God only knows why he does the things he does. God will give that family strenght pa aguantar este dolor k estan pasando.

I don’t understand how the doctors would put him through back surgery if this would be a dangerous procedure for a man his age. He was in his seventies but he was FULL OF LIFE!
I got to know him in “Eva Luna” and frankly, in my opinion, he was the best actor in the show. He was funny and he just had this great attitude.
I’ve never heard of someone dying from an infection due to back surgery. Can someone explain to me why the doctors did not catch this on time? After all, he WAS in a HOSPITAL. I also don’t understand why they induced a coma.
I believe that more should be done to remember his LIFE. I would like to see UNIVISION or another television channel do a special program remembering his life and his major accomplishments both personal and professional.
I live in the US and they sometimes spend weeks remembering famous American actors and actresses that have passed on.
Spanish people are not less important just because they are not from the US.
Please, if you have any influence in the Mexican acting world, make sure that this great and bubbly man gets his due recognition; he DEFINITELY deserves it and so do his loved ones.
Jorge, I am just a fan but your passing has had me in TEARS all day long. Something about you must have touched my soul. I feel like a family member has just passed away.

Que pena, un gran actor de Mexico…esa risa y esa voz de baritono…que Dios lo tenga con el.
Sentido pesame para su familia.
Se volvio a dar a conocer en la ultima novela que hizo..pero el ya traia una larga trayectoria en la actuacion..me alegra que la gente joven tambien tuvo oportunidad de verlo actuar y apreciar su talento.

SOOO SOOO SAD.. My heart goes out to his family.. I loved him on Eva Luna..He really touched my heart.. such an actor!!!! unfortunately life has these sad disapointments and there’s nothing we can do but grieve.. RIP Great ACTOR Jorge Lavat

I agree that an hour special should be devoted.. but I doubt they will do one in U.S. In Mexico they have an hour show dedicated to Mexican stars and their bio/life stories which is great. It is called “detras del mito” .. which I fine exceptional. RIP Jorge.. I remember you from “LOS HERMANOS CORAJE Novela years ago!”

I dont evn know what to say, my heart is breaking really hard @ this moment, i am from west africa Ghana & we re still watching eva luna & gosh, i really love that old man julio Arismendi (Jorge Lavat) & am shocked to my wits he’s gone….. Life is just not fair, period! May his soul rest in perfect peace, & to my spanish brothers & sisters, take heart. Gracias y dios le bendice. Hpe i got my spanish right, adios!
