Like i’ve said before:
It angers me to see these celebrities begging for people who work at McDonalds making $8.50hr for money. Are you serious? People who are struggling as we speak. 30 million people in the U.S are unemployed. How bout this, we take 10 million dollars from Oprah, 2 million from Ricky Martin, 60 million from Bill Gates, 8 million from George Colony, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, 12 million dollars from Jay-Z and Beyonce. Trust me, they will still be rich. And stop paying reality stars 100,500+ for getting drunk and gridin’ on a damn pool, it shouldn’t be that hard to that kind of disgusting shit, that money could have gone to the people of Haiti. Why do celebrities run their mouth about Haiti and do nothing about it? Why don’t they put some of their money in?

Alessandra–u took the words right out of my mouth. I am a big fan of Ricky’s so I just hope he puts his $$ where his mouth is and is NOT just asking the rest of us to give but has given a HUGE donation himself. Don’t have me bid on your clothes that cost you nothing unless you’re going to match, double, triple, quadruple, etc. my bid.

Alessandra and Colleen,
You both should do your reseach before opening our pilewholes. Ricky Martin was the first one from the hispanic community to open his wallet for Haiti. He has built many of houses at many needed places ( out of his pocket) for needy people and those affected by natural dissasters.
Many of those individuals talking actually also gave big donations. Example: Wisin and Yandel gave $250k and equipment.
So stop being so negative and if you don’t feel like helping just don’t criticize. Just remmember that many other countries were people make less than the minimum wage in the US also gave. Tomorrow we can be the ones needing.

some people have some rather large sticks up their butts. if you happen to be in the position to help even just a little bit, kudos to you. on the other hand, if you can’t afford to help someone in need, then don’t. no one is forcing anyone to help. these famous people ask you to help because these famous people have a much bigger voice than the average person. they can reach millions of people. what is so wrong about helping a country that needs it? i agree that the u.s. isn’t exactly doing so great right now, but we aren’t living in rubble and most of us aren’t homeless and starving. i live from paycheck to paycheck and sometimes can’t even pay a bill on time, but i’m in much better shape than the people in haiti. because of this i have been texting $10 a week to help those less fortunate than myself. can i use that money for something else? you bet! but a whole country in a crisis far worse than my own needs it more than i do right now. I guess some people here think it’s only up to rich and famous people to save a country. that kind of thinking is ignorant. it’s almost as ignorant as being selfish.

Oh great, Mimi, 2 people [Ricky Martin and Wisin y Yandel] out of 27 celebrities that were in that video gave money to Haiti. Lets give a round of applause for that, shall we? WTF, is up with the rest, telling people [their fans I guess you can say] to do something about the tragic in Haiti while they’re not doing anything about it besides running their mouth. Are you serious? They have so much money if all the celebrities that you saw in that video put their money together for Haiti, they could send some damn meal, medicines, blankets, whatever they need. They need to stop running their mouth and do something about it, these dumb public service videos is not doing anything for the people of Haiti and Chile.

Are they really helping? How is asking people to do something about the crises in Haiti and Chile helping? Is that sending them food, medicine, clothing? I don’t think so.

@annamya-Because they’re celebrities and they’re asking us to help donate to Haiti and Chile, I am going to run to the telephone and donate because Luis Fonsi etc. is telling me to. Are you serious?
March 13th, 2010
The only point I was trying to make is that I HOPE those who talk the talk, also walk the walk. In other words, I do hope they are doing more than just asking others to give. Because if that is all they are doing, then that is not enough. Aside from some who I saw on one of the telethons donating oversized checks, I have NO idea if the others gave. That is between them and their conscience. As for me, I gave what I could.

@alessandra – no you’re going to run to the phone and donate because you want to help the less fortunate. but an idea always starts with one person and hopefully the word spreads. if a fan of luis fonsi sees him doing something good, then maybe they will want to do something as well. that’s all i’m saying. you make it seem like no one should ask anyone for help because we need to help ourselves first. you also make it seem like celebrities don’t have a right to ask anyone for anything because they are so rich so why don’t we just have them donate and stop asking us. you can think whatever you want. no matter how you spin it – celebrities helping for the better good is not a bad thing. if they inspire just 1 person to help and give – then their voice was heard. that’s the whole point.

This is what I am saying- They cannot ask for their fans to help donate money to Chile & Haiti when they’re not doing anything themselves. How stupid is that? You expect people do something about the tragic in those two countries but you as a celebrity with so much money you ain’t doing anything to help but be in a stupid video. Like I said before, this video isn’t doing anything to help the Haitian and Chilean people with food, shelter, blankets, clothing etc.
Case close.
