Pitbull Cancels Arizona Concert Over SB1070
Pitbull has canceled his concert in Arizona over the unjust law SB1070.

How is it that the country that we enjoy and love for its human rights, freedom, and opportunities, which was created and built by immigrants, now start to negate them? This contradicts all of the basic fundamentals that make up The United States of America.”
Completely agree! Not fun for his fans in AZ but imagine the police raiding that event knowing there will be many Latinos there.
You can argue that it wouldn’t happen, but this new law makes it possible!

I live in Phoenix, and I am so glad that Pitbull has done this its sad for us his fan’s but this sb1070 is bad, bad, bad.
It has not gone into “effect” and police, sheriffs and DPS are already taking this into action.
I have had my neighbor be treated that way by a DPS, he didn’t beleive that my neighbor his green card was valid was discriminated big time for not speaking english at perfection.

Boycotting AZ is not a good thing. think of all those Latinos that are legally here and working hard, some of them have jobs as janitors for those concert places and others working at hotels and by boycotting az they are not only hurting AZ state but Latinos pockets. your own people.

As aresident of Arizona and child of a legal immigrant, it appalls me that the race card gets played on this. Unless you live here, you simply don’t understand. Schools and services are closing under bad fiscal policies, but also under the weight of illegal immigration. Here in Maricopa County, 8% of our population is undocumented . 58% of the jail population is here illegally. Jumping the border is the same as cutting in line. Many people wait YEARS to get into America; the idea of entitlement after illegal entry is simply arrogant. This guy’s boycott is probably just a PR move anyway

Alessandra- can you explain how this bill secures our borders? Im sorry you didnt elaborate how this bill does that.What this bill actually does is that it has the state overstep its power by making immigration a state issue, which they have no claim to. This is a federal offense and it should remain that way, can you imagine if there was a different immigration policy for each state?
bibi- So far your the only one that has mentioned anything about race or mexicans. I like to think that people are more educated than that. But Did you know that many years ago a boycott of arizona was organized because the state REFUSED to recognize MLK as holiday, it was hard for the residents but there are sacrafices to be made to accomplish anything of importance. Its the same with the grape boycott organized by the farmworkers, who ended up loosing in the short run but won what they pursued. or the Bus boycotts. Boycotts can be harmful but if they are organized in an effective way, they can move mountains. i dont think anyone is naive to the fact we may suffer temporarily to see the change we want
AZLib1969- as a child of citizen parents and being a citizen myself I understand what goes on in maricopa, i live there. I would ask you first of all where you got your statistics, ive read the article your referring to and its extremely flawed one of the reason is that most of the immigrants that they count in jail are there because of their status, not because they committed any other sort of crime. secondly, with our “wonderful” sheriff arpaio think about how much of his resources go to arrest undocumented who may or may not be commiting crimes compared to the hundreds of thousands of warrants of known rapist, murderers, and thiefs. his priorites are wrong, and he deciated most of his time in energy on undocumented people.
You also make it seem like immigrants dont pay taxes. do you know that for a fact obviously you dont, because most of them pay income, property and salex tax. so dont say they are depleting our resources. While they pay taxes, unless the immigrant is a child that person cant even ask for the “services” you mentioned. So if anything they are putting money into pools that they dont have any claim to. So maybe our situation isnt as bad because of Immigrants. GASP! and if you wanna blame someone for our deficits, make sure you have valid arguments to back it up ,but your right most of it is to blame on fiscal policy.
Im not for amnesty, I dont support open borders, I dont support those who come to not contribute and only take from the system. I dont support those who come to harm and endanger our communities. But those are a small percentage and its important people recognize that.
What I support is
to first of secure or border, Keep out the drugs and the cartels.
A path to citizenship that enables those that follow the sytem, who contribute to our nation, to get some sort of legal status.
And a system that will reformed to ensure that this immigration problem doesnt happen again in 10 years.

azlib1968, those illegal immigrants in jail are not criminals, they’re simply working hard to have a better life… why are they placed in jail?
in addition, they’re forced to wear pink underwear in jail. is that inhumane or what?
you guys argue they get social services. but you guys don’t complain about the numerous white individuals who HAVE the means to live appropriate, but they decide to live off welfare and drugs.

I really admire and respect all these famosos for standing up for what they believe in, for what they think is unjust and for what they think it is not the right way to do things…so more power to you Pit!!! I mean come on! Even the Arizona basketball team, the PHOENIX SUNS made a huge political statement during their Playoff game on May 5th to show they are against this law by wearing their jersey that read “Los Suns”!!!
Many of the arguments that support this law do not make sense at all!!! The only legal natives to these lands are Native Americans. This country was built by immigrants! If we are going to complain about illegal immigrants now then we should start blaming George Washington and all those Presidents who brought slaves to this country to work on the plantations, to work in the fields to do the jobs the white man did not want to do in those times!
People say that immigrants come here to have kids and take advantage of the government through welfare…I personally think that it is not taking advantage but rather taking into consideration of what the government has to offer! This should be a reality check that there is something wrong with the way the government works!!! How many times have I seen not only brown people but black people paying with their welfare debit cards, with their WIC Vouchers…if this even counts!!! I say the government should just stop giving all this free money, maybe then people will stop complaining about things like this!!!

Any PERSON without regard to race, sex or religion must be allowed into the United States. Any PERSON sneaking in is a CRIMINAL! Stop trying to rewrite our laws to fit your cause. You Are criminals if you are here without permission and documentation.
