I agree I don’t think Eduardo Yanez should be Juan del Diablo is too old for the role, and if they plan on remaking it, making it with people that will have chops to pull that story, cause if not it will be a complete failure, and I love Corazon Salvaje.

Eduardo Yanez has years of experience assuming the protoganist role, but I just don’t think his acting style fits this particular role. He is way too smily and hyper, and Juan was someone completely opposite to that. He was an intriguing man full of wit and rebellious causes. Its a difficult role to fulfill because it takes someone who brings adventure, mystery, and intrigue to the stage. Truthfully I dont even think Colunga has that, his style is too romantic and has been overused in the past novelas. Palomo did an exceptional job, and its going to take someone with such talent to bring Juan del Diablo back alive to the same status that he did. (maybe sebastian rulli and thats still pushing it)

I’ve been in turmoil since I found out about this. On one side I love the story of Corazon Salvaje … on the other how on earth will I be able to watch it and not see Eduardo Palomo?!? Corazon Salvaje was the first novela I ever saw and Palomo was the first guy I ever had a crush on. He represented all the adventure, romanticism and sheer pasion women usually look for. He was not conventionally handsome but he was intriguing. he pulled you in. Add to this great acting chops and a great script and you have magic.
I know Corazon Salvaje wasn’t the original but it’s a landmark of the telenovela industry. At the same time it stirred clear of all the kitch that sometimes goes along with novelas: blindness, loss of memory. twins etc …
But this new production seems to embrace all those things … Between Yanez, which is not bad looking and a decent actor, whose whole thing is basically that he’s a latino macho and the recent rumours of Araceli Arambula ( and I’m sorry but she will never be Edith Gonzales’s equal as acting goes) playing double role as both Monica and Animee … I’ll tell you the truth, I’m scared!!!!
The thing is: Corazon Salvaje is as watchable today as it was in 93 when I saw it first. And what makes it enduring is that they really picked atypical actors for the latino market ( by that I mean that most actors in that production did not overact) and produced an excelent script, deprived of the over sentimentality that more often then not creeps its was into novelas.
I wonder if we’ll be able to say the same thing about the new production. i hope so but I doubt it!

I can’t stand eduardo yanez!!!! I know for a fact that he will not be able to pull this part off as well as eduardo palomo did. Juan del diablo is a character that instill passion when you see him. i’ve seen the third interpretation so many times that it would be hard to imagine anyone else to play the part. But yanez is too old!! what is he, almost 50!! Juan’s character is 30 years old. Plus, hes not even good looking and is a horrible actor. Cabezon!!! Honestly they should get someone younger and leaner. If they use Yanez to play the part, I will definitely not be watching it. It will only ruin the impression i have of the 93′ version. I would rather they show the old one. But good luck to the actors, cuz it’s going to be hard to improve a classic as good as corazon salvaje. I really hope they recast the part of juan del diablo. Either way, eduardo palomo will always be my juan del diablo.

This is the 3rd (I think) remake of the “novela” and Palomo’s is the best, but it should be enjoyed by the “newer” generation. Would you believe when the first Corazon Salvaje was broadcasted it was in “black and white” and I learned how to speak Spanish while watching the most “sexiest” Juan, at that time, as my mother translated each “capitulo”. True, this new actor will not give it the “acting-value” as Palomo and it might put his acting career in jepordy but it will be a learning tool to other directors when picking actors will less qualifications for future projects or remakes. We learn by our mistakes.
Part of our “cultural” memories included our “novelas” and the older ones are the best even if they are always predictable but we must agree we do “love” these “corny” mini-movies. So let’s see what Yanez does with this remake and if we don’t like it thank God we still can obtain the originals. Hey, Corazon Salvaje is just one of the “old” classics, there are many more that should be “remade” for the enjoyment of the “newer” generation.

I don’t know if the people at Televisa have heard the saying ‘Si algo no esta roto, porque arreglarlo’, but in my opinion ‘Corazon Salvaje’ (1993) was/is the definition of the perfect telenovela and a remake of it is not needed. Eduardo Palomo, who I consider the best actor of his generation, did such a great job and to have Eduardo Yanez whos acting is so over the top (and btw too old for the role) is an insult to his memeory.

Since this “revised” novela will be done why not think about actors Benecio Del Toro as Juan and Kate Del Castillo (she had worked with Palomo in other novelas). Benecio is a “method” actor and I know it will make Palomo proud of his efforts. Kate already has the experience not only with novelas but both actors have “crossed-over” to Anglo productions which might be an asset to this new generation. It might work as a “mini-series” and the “pirate/romance” aspect could draw in high ratings, males for the “macho” portion and females for the romance. It’s just a thought that might work, look at “Ugly Betty”. Even thought the “original” was great the “mini-series” has captured all types of viewers. Somthing to think about!!!!

The last person I’d like to see play another lead role is Yanez. Just because he looks good at 50 doesn’t mean he’s a good actor. He is definitely way too over the top and his acting, kind of sucks. Fuego en la Sangre was just ridiculous.
Fernando Colunga would definitely make a better Juan del Diablo. I mean look at his other fantastic novelas, especially the recent ones that have been set many many years back. He’s great in those roles, in all roles for that matter. He is a versatile actor. Doesn’t overdo it.
And Aracely Arambula? It’s been years since she’s even acted for a commercial, what is she doing starring in such a classic and timeless novela?
In my opinion, whether or not Palomo’s was the classic is not the real debate here, it’s how bad this one is going to be. It’s going to leave a bad aftertaste in our mouths, making us wish it wouldn’t have ever crossed any producer’s mind.
I’ve been watching novelas since I was 6!
