Zion.jpgWe recently had an opportunity to have an exclusive interview with our new friend Zion, who is part of the star-studded crew of Los Cocorocos. This young reggaeton artist talked with us about working with legends, his latest projects, and the Latin Grammys controversy involving most of today’s reggaetoneros.

1. What do you see is the future for reggaeton? I see that we have to work harder. There is a big market out there that we must conquer!

2. Aside from Los Cocorocos, let us know of any future projects you’re working on. I’m working on my first solo album, The Perfect Melody, also I’m producing Arkangel and De La Guettos each separate albums for 2007.

3. At Latin Gossip, we discuss scandals and controversy - be honest. Do you enjoy hearing or reading about the latest celebrity scoop? I’m not really interested in what other artists do, but you always find out!

4. What do you think about the reggaetoneros walking out of the Latin Grammys when Calle 13 won all the awards they were nominated in? I think that’s a shame because regardless of how they felt at that moment they’re Puerto Ricans and they should support our people. Just work harder for next time!

5. How was it working with great legends on this album? It was an honor to be part of such project… These are people that I grew up listening to and have given so much for the music and Latin culture that I’m overwhelm.

6. Did any of them share any advice about the music industry or life in general? If so, what advice? Yes, to keep it up and to watch myself to take care of the things that are more important in life first, to make sure I don’t waste my talent, and look out who you make business with. You can’t trust nobody.

7. At Latin Gossip, we always share new artists with our readers because we like to promote and help up-and-coming artists. Is there anyone that we should look out for? Who are you listening to now? Arkangel (La Maravilla) the illest with versatility, sings and raps!! Its a mix of Tupac, 50 cent, and Hector Lavoe. Its fire! And De La Guetto (Gettlogia) a whole new generation of guetto thug singing with passion in his songs and lyrics… fully bilingual great potential!!! They’re the future of Latin urban music… You know, Baby records, All day prrrrrraaaaaa!!!!

8. Anything else you want to share with Latin Gossip readers? Wait for my new album is launching in February 2007, La Melodia Perfecta !! It’s a great album with great songs totally different with a big urban touch and, of course, reggaeton.
