AK-7 Dedicates Song To Gay Fans
Duranguense band AK-7 is dedicating a song to their gay fans on their next album.
In an interview with Notimex, Gerardo Ramirez said:
“We offer them respect, because we reject any type of intolerance and racism against anyone’s point of view. Without a doubt, the gay community hasn’t just been an important part of the career of some artists, but of the majority of artists in the world of entertainment.“
That’s pretty awesome that they are doing this.
Let’s face it…the Mexican music genre is filled with machismo and the word ‘gay’ is still taboo in many respects.
Our hats off to AK-7 for going against the flow and recognizing all of their fans. of course, it makes perfect business sense too…their not stupid!
Bottom line is, RESPECT FOR ALL!

Wow, this is too cute! Mexican culture is more liberal than people think. Gay Duranguense culture is evolving and growing in many Western and Midwestern cities. I actually made a short presentation for my Gender and Sexuality in Latin American Literature course.

Banda groups have a bad reputation for being involved with the drug lords and now they’re adding the gay component to it. What’s next!
