Maria Celeste Arraras got REAL with Luis Miguel live on the air during her show Al Rojo Vivo. It’s a long read, but totally worth it! She let him have it…and we agree with her!
“Well, Luis Miguel is releasing an album, but that’s not what we’re talking about today. Today, we’re talking about what, for years, Luis Miguel has done everytime he wants to promote a new album, which is manipulate the press to his liking. A game that we are not going to play.
A few days ago, we received a call from the singer’s office offering to do an interview with him but with the condition that it not be me. When we notified Luis Miguel’s representatives that we didn’t allow those types of conditions be forced on us, his representatives retaliated prohibiting the show Cada Dia from sharing any material they captured of Luis Miguel specifically with Al Rojo Vivo. Cada Dia did not accept this either. Telemundo does not allow that type of abuse.
Luis Miguel doesn’t want me or other members of the press to interview him, only those that please him. Perhaps he wants to avoid any questions about his ex girlfriend Myrka Dellanos, which I did ask him about when they were dating. It obviously bothered him. Honestly, that isn’t even worth mentioning today. She is happily married to someone else.
What is his criteria for choosing who interviews him? Well, only he knows that, but, without a doubt, it is a dangerous practice that puts the selected journalists in a compromising situation because it sends them a subtle but convincing message that only those who ask him what he wants to answer will be accepted.
Luis Miguel should understand that he is an artist loved by his fans and that he should put aside his mysterious and untouchable image, at least when he is promoting an album, and allow his fans to know a little more about him. Having a nice voice does not give you the right to censor anyone from the press and as far as I am concerned, Luis Miguel, while you continue with conditions and restrictions, as a journalist, the one who is the least bit interested in interviewing you is me.”
