Univision Upfront : Jennifer Lopez
Of course, Jennifer Lopez couldn’t miss out on the festivities at the Univision Upfront. The Jenster was there to plug the new mini series she is producing on the network - the first for Univision.
Do you think it’ll be a success or totally bomb?

More pictures after the jump.

I used to be such a big fan of Jennifer, but now she’s just getting on my nerves, she’s such a user, all those who worked with her swear she’s the most self-centred person in the world just using people to get ahead, and now that she hasn’t been so successful in the English market, she’s even now turned to using her own Latin people to further her selfish self-serving career, enough with that, that’s bull

JENNIFER, instead of paying univision to promote YOURSELF, how about giving back to your community by donating some money to organizations that actually need it? use some of the hundreds of thousands of dollars you use to make-up your face and hair to something that’s gonna help people?

Jennifer Lopez’s new Spanish language album has bombed in the US, selling just 50,000 in its first week of release.
Whilst that figure might sound a lot, its way down on expectations and the fact J.Lo managed to get banned from the Latino music chain in America, Ritmo Latino.
The 37-year-old, who got her husband Marc Anthony in to produce Como Ama una Mujer (How A Woman Loves), refused to do an in store appearance at the stores because they only stocked Hispanic music.
Ritmo president David Massry explained, “We’ve supported her from the beginning. Now we’re told from the record company she will only visit Anglo retail outlets.
“This is a Spanish CD, and if she wants to discriminate against the Latin community then we will not sell her product.
“Celebrities have the notion that when they reach a certain level of crossover appeal, they can quickly forget where they started. We will not tolerate this.”
And neither will the public by the sound of it.

She never had time for Hispanic events before, but once she married Marc olvidarte - esta metida en todo como el arroz blanco. And yes she is self centered and uses people left and right.
Y que la gran cosa con el cuerpo. In the American media it may be hot. put in the Spanish media - there are a few women that give her competition. To me she’s just una ordinaria in the Spanish sector, and she does not impress me at all. I say in 5 years she’s gonna be a has been.

American media is so stupid. When she did the appearance in the Bronx for her album they all reported she returned to her old neihgborhood. They all acted like she was so sweet for returning to her odl neihgborhood and were reporting that it was her way of thanking them for always supporting her.
NEWSFLASH: She did not return to her old neighborhood. Jerome Avenue and Gunhill is NO WHERE near her old neighborhood - that’s way on the other side of the Bronx away from her old neighborhood. She doesn’t return to her neighborhood for shit unless it’s too try and act like she cares about the people. (Like when she did the Barbra Walters special I think it was.)
That’s why her old elementary school (where her mother taught), her high school, the boys & girls club she attended, and other assosciations in her old neighborhood such as the local little league all have nothing but negative things to say about her and do not respect her.
Her days as a “star” are numbered.

I love Jen and can’t wait to see the show on Univision. Her album did not bomb. It debut in the top ten on the mainstream Billboard charts which is very good for a Spanish Album and it also debut No. 1 on the Latin Billboard charts and reamained there for 4 weeks and is now no. 2.
Go jen!!

I have to stick up for Jen here also. I think she is trying to reach out to Latinos and she has donated lots of money to many charities. I just think sometimes when people achieve so much success it is easy to point fingers and notice all the bad things.

that’s right, she’s such a liar sayin she went back to her old neighborhood, i passed by castle hill (her old neighborhood) once on the 6 train and jerome avenue is nowhere near her old neighborhood, she’s probably too embarassed of her middle class upbringing now, and with releasing an album in Spanish, but refusing to appear in a Spanish-oriented record chain like Ritmo Latino just because it only has Spanish music, but only saying yes to Anglo chains like Virgin megastore, good way to stay true to your latin roots for sure, huh Jennifer? that’s “real”, as in a real sell out.

I agree, ain’t nothin special about Jennifer that you can’t find in any other Latin woman, she can’t even sing, and she can’t do an interview without subtly hinting about her greatness and all the things she achieved, we get it Jennifer, you helped open doors for Latinos, but she acts like she was the only one that did it, what about Gloria Estefan during the 80s? or Desi Arnaz from the 50s? And now that she’s got money, she’s gotta flaunt it in all her music videos, it doesn’t matter that she donated some money to organizations in the US, kids are starving to death all over Latin America, what has she done for them? At least Shakira and Juanes gave back to the people in Latin America, and the only reason why she hit #1 is of course because of her wide fan base, but it’s not for the quality of her music considering that her album got the worst reviews from both Latin and Anglo reviewers.

The Ritmo Latino store appearance was not only supposed to be for the Bronx, cause i know that ritmo latino there’s more stores in los angeles, so you can’t say that just because the record company because if you read the article, it said clearly why she didn’t want to do it — only because it’s a Spanish-music only store, and she didn’t wanna “lower” herself as a superstar appearing in a grassroots Latino chain, she was embarassed because she thought she’s too big, she should only appear in Tower Records, Virgin Megastore, Sam Goody, “mainstream” stores, but even to promote a SPANISH album, she thinks she’s too high to appear in a “lowly” Latino chain, yea whatever…

wow there is lots to say about this particular gossip! but just like some here, I love Jlo!! though I have to admit that her Spanish album I think sucks!! she doesn’t even speak Spanish correctly! (ex: on American Idol’s appearance, Ryan Siecrest’s SPanish was better than hers)
I do like the fact that she is trying to reach out the Latino public, but for some reason it seems as if she doesn’t fit =/ she’s Jennifer Lopez, she’s glamour, Success, an icon really, so she needs to quit trying to make more out of her..
I still love her!!!! she’s an inspiration for having achieved so much in so little time.

Jlo is a big fake period. Not even Selena’s parents like her. She has snubbed them. Both her and her husband get on my nerves but at least Marc can sing spanish. She also broke up his marriage-what a homewrecker!! She can’t sing at all and she is just using the spanish peeps to put her name back out there. There is too many talented latinas that are prettier and more talented than her and are actually NICE people.
