Lucia Mendez Being Recognized by GLAAD
GLAAD will honor Lucia Méndez for her work in helping prevent suicides among the youth in the gay community.
Lucia said:
“These young individuals are committing suicide in some cases because they confess to their parents that they are gay and they don’t understand, the have fear of talking about it, they are afraid to tell their parents, I like boys or I like girls. I can’t imagine how a parent can deny their kids. These youths, who are our future, are ending their lives, punishing themselves for being gay.”
Good job, Lucia, on shining a light on this subject matter! Applause!
