Enrique Iglesias Goes 2x Platinum and Gold
Congrats are in order for Enrique Iglesias…
His album, Uno 95/08, achieved double platinum status in the US, and Gold in Mexico, Venezuela, and Central America.
PS - Enrique is going on tour in the US with Aventura. He’s serious about wanting to sing bachata, huh?

For spanish album in US platinium status is 200.000 copias so sumary - 400.000, Mexico status gold is 50.000 ,Venezuela - 10.000 and Central America gold status is only 5.000.
For me it’s very strange that he not reached even gold status (40.000) in Espana (his native country)and after 9 weeks he not made TOP 50 !!!
Also in the big market Argentina he hasn’t even gold status (20.000 copias).

People are predjudice towards him in his native spain because they think he’s a Daddy’s boy which is so not true, so he’ll never have huge success there.
The US is the most difficult market to crack but Enrique has done it in his almost 14 year career which is more than most artists can say. And anyway, there’s more than just the US in the English market, in fact the US is only 20% of the market. People dont seem to realise that. He’s gone platinum in the majority of Europe which is a bigger market than the US. So stop hating haters.
Besides 200,000 is good these days with piracy and all that, especially for a spanish album.

Ok,maybe you have right about market US and Espana but you are wrong about Europe . He is not gone platinium here ,he selling very poor cd “7″ and “Insomniac” ,”95/98″ very little. He was good selling here long time ago (1999-2002).

I don’t know if Enrique Iglesias shoud be seen as a Spanish artist or is he Latin American? He was born in Spain but moved to the U.S. as a kid and went to school in Miami (university and all).
