Daddy Yankee’s People Respond to Obama Rumor
That was quick…Daddy Yankee’s people sent out this message in regard to the rumor that Yankee settled to endorse McCain because Obama passed on him.
In fact, they’re saying that Obama originally wanted Yankee to endorse him.
“It’s completely false. Our camp never approached the Obama camp. The Obama and Clinton camps were calling our office before the Puerto Rican primary, trying to get Yankee to endorse them. The McCain camp approached us, as well. Yankee considered all the proposals and he liked McCain’s. That’s why he decided to endorse him. There was never an offer to endorse Obama. That never happened.“

You guys are passing a lot of judgement and criticism in a very non-articulate manner, if I may add. Please describe the issue(s) that are of importance to your particular lives that will back up why you are voting democrat and for Obama. Opinions always need to be backed up by facts and data AND I stress FACTS not what u hear or read in the farandula.

Thank GOD…..I am not the only Latina female here that happens to be republican!
I am so sick of people dissing Daddy Yankee because he is endorsing McCain.
I applaud him for not following the celebrity trend and backing Obama because it is the “cool” thing to do.
I honestly don’t think DY is going to back someone he doesn’t believe in.
And all of you people out there saying that “he lost fans” or “that you are never going to listen to his music again” is all BS!
You know if you saw Daddy Yankee out on the streets you would be running up to him trying to get a picture or talk to him. Don’t lie!
Most of the celebrities I like all happen to be voting for Obama and I am not going around saying “Oh I am never going to watch their movies again” or “I am never going to attend their concert” because that shouldn’t matter.
Everyone has their rights to their own opinion!

Jessica and A Republica here…I understand were you guys are coming from, and I respect that.
But this does seem a little too weired and has DINERO written all over it. If whatever DY’s people said is true, this line gives them away…”Yankee considered all the “proposals” and he liked McCain’s.” I don’t think the word “proposals” in this case really means issues DY would like to see change in…I think is much of who was going to pay him more. Plus, if it did meant an issue DY wants to take part in, it would have been better if they had just spit it out and said which one.
Plus, when we say endorsment, it is usually the money candidates get for their camp. And when a celecraty like DY is asked to do something, we are sure they got paid to do it…”there is not free luch.”
So, you guys are right, just like everybody else to some extent are right also. A Republica here…all the issues McCain has are the issues Obama has, from education to healthcare and from the war in Iraq and Afghanistan to solar power and the economy, even immigration and our troops and veterans, its just the way they go about planning things for the future, or if they get to office.
Democrats, tend to represent the Latino “struggle” I guess you can call it. Republicans don’t, but they often say they do just to get the vote…but who doesn’t when they want the vote right.
So I am sure most of us here who are against DY supporting McCain see it from the point of who will represent Latinos and other minorities more. Plus, didn’t somebody say that DY can’t vote since he lives in PR? If so, this is another reason why it has MONEY written all over it.
Jessica, i agree that even tho we are going against DY right now, that won’t stop us from running to him and ask for an autograph if we ever did see him on the streets…it wouldn’t stop me!
One more thing, some democrats tend to vote republican, and some republicans do tent to vote democrat all based on the issues they feel concerns them more. So even tho DY may not be able to vote, he liked one of MC’s issues.

Eight horrible years of George W Bush is enough. Don’t like McCain or what he stands for. For instance giving more to the rich as Bush did and making everything worse on the middle class. Not to mention getting our soldiers killed in an illegal war that should not have happened in the first place. Mc Cain is also a war hawk like Bush. The country will only suffer more with McCain. Daddy Yankee is making a mistake IMO.

Ahh dude, if you’re a true fan, you don’t care. you will understand that we all have our own opinions. i’m in favor of Obama but I’m a huge DY fan. it doesn’t matter, he’s just endorsing him. stop making this like a whole scandal. if you’re for mccain, good; if you’re for obama, good. we all are entitled to our own opinion.

Yes, everyone is entitled to their opinion but DY’s endorsement is questionable. Daddy Yankee has talked about his struggle and where he came from. Republicans for the most part don’t like to fund social programs that help the poor. I just don’t believe that DY is fully aware of what he is supporting. As a man who came from a low income family, could he really want to deny other low income families help? Personally, I believe that if you’re a celebrity and you put yourself out there in support of a candidate, they need to be fully aware of all their candidates views because some fans can take offense to it. This is what is occurring with DY, I’m sure it won’t affect his record sales later on, but his credibility will be questioned for now on.
