Monchy y Alexandra Go Their Own Ways
Bachata duo Monchy y Alexandra have split!
Alexandra has decided to quit and go on her own.
She explains that she has been upset for some time at the lack of professionalism that she has experienced while being part of the combo.
They were really one of the biggest acts in this genre, but she’s probably thinking about wanting to keep 100% of the money and not have to split it with Monchy.
It usually ALWAYS comes down to money!

¡Ay, caramba! I sort of figured that this was coming, because they have not released any new music or performed publicly in a long while, and as much as I love Aventura, this duo, in my opinion, were the truest essence of bachata!

The deal is that Monchy Y Alexandra are indeed splitting up but not until their current tour schedule is complete which ends next month in October. So if you have plans to see Monchy Y Alexandra then they are going to perform for you. The deal with Monchy Y Alexandra is that she feels like she is not counted as part of the team and her opinion is no longer counted. Anyways, for those of you who have seen Monchy Y Alexandra live in concert, we know that Alexandra is the true talent of Monchy Y Alexandra. Monchy on the other hand has become more of a backup singer to her and she carried the duo for most of their shows. Good luck to them but I am sure that Alexandra will get the better deal in the end as her voice is pheononmenal.

My wife and I went to see them Saturday night, 9-27-2008, in St. Louis, MO at Casa Loma Ballroom. They were supposed to start at 12pm. They didn’t start until 1:20am. Their manager was busy counting money and it seemed the band would not start until he got enough money. The band was good…Alexandra carries the band. It was almost like Monchy was a back-up singer. Alexandra was very polite to the crowd, friendly, almost humble seeming. The band only performed for about 6 songs when we were promised 3 hours of music. Afterwards, they briefly took pictures (for $5 a pic) and then left. Alexandra will do well on her own. So will Monchy. But the band, overall, was rather unprofessional.

They are one in the eyes of Bachata. Greed is evil. She is making a huge mistake. However, no one knows what is in the pot only they do. What a pity..
Very dismayed. It won’t be the same….Tampa, FL

Hey maybe this could also be because of the family that she has started. If she goes her own way it will probably better that way. Although they are a great team. They both sound really good. I am glad that I had a chance to see them live in Orlando Fl at Sea World. They did a great performance!
