His children, Cassie and Noah, are also listed in the litigant inquiry.
We’re hearing rumblings that the reason for this is because he was hardly ever home and partied a bit too much. Of course, there are always two sides to the story.

Divorce sucks, but man if I was married 2 Chris, I would deal with getting him help and take care of my husband, Divorce is not the answer in this case, love is beautiful, without struggles there is no memories to build thru thick n thin in a marriage. It’s never easy when you lose a loved one, probably worse, to violence. I think Chris has not been able to come to terms with what happened even after all these years. Im happy to hear that chris was able to remarry after Selena’s murder. Though it must be a difficult task for any female who dates him. I think the whole thing is just sad. From Chris losing Selena to this mess. I feel the worst for the kids. They are in the middle of it. So sad. Sophia: I agree with you. I think they were meant for each other too and like you, when I found out he was even DATING someone else—years ago—I was mad because it’s so easy to think, “What about Selena?!?” Even though we both recognize it’s selfish, it doesn’t necessarily change someone’s feelings.
That said, over the years, I feel differently now. If they were meant to be with each other until they were old and gray, they would be. But it’s the will of a higher power that dictates otherwise. I think they were meant for each other while Selena was still here but she’s not anymore. I believe Chris can move on yet maintain and respect her legacy.
Selena was very progressive and inventive from what I could tell. I think she would want her loved ones and fans to focus less on her tragic death and focus on her life. Even though Selena’s not physically here now, I think she would want her image reinvented to keep up with the times. Being the compassionate person she appeared to be with a heart of gold, I believe she would rather have Chris find love and happiness again than be emotionally burdened by her tragic death for the rest of his life.

Sofia: I apologize for mis-spelling your name. While we’re on the topic, my name is Lala and not “Lola” (refer to #78).
I don’t think his relationships will last long because it seems as if he and those surrounding him can’t get past comparing whoever he is with to Selena. I imagine it would be hard to do on his own but it makes it all the more difficult with friends, family, and strangers comparing whoever he is with to Selena. It is going to take a lot of inner strength to get past that and move on.
I agree Venessa and Melissa are poor choices in women. I don’t think Chris entirely worked out all of his issues and probably thought that by forcing himself to move on with his life by dating other women, his heart would catch up with his mind. I think his lack of confronting, dealing, and resolving his issues before entering into another relationship and subsequently having kids accounts for much of the chaos that goes on in his life now.
P.S. Has anyone else noticed that if you google “Venessa Villanueva” in relation to Chris, various sources describe her as a “Mexican model”? I found out on this site she was an exotic dancer in Texas. I wonder where they got that misinformation…

Yeah, the word on the streets is that he’s going to marry some Latin pop singer named Melissa Jiminez. I’ve never even heard of her until this site. She’s supposedly in her early twenties and has a questionable reputation.

I think I found Melissa’s myspace at one point in time and she had pics of herself and Chris in her photo albums section. However, it was in a group setting and it looked as if she and Chris’ (and whatever band he was in at the time) were playing together for some sort of venue. She is WAY too young. I’ll try searching again and let you know what I find.
I think Chris should focus on himself and getting healthy (on the inside and outside) before he gets into any other relationships.
Though understandable given his grief after Selena’s passing, I think it was too soon for him to jump into another relationship and I think it made it worse for him in the long run by doing so. Especially when kids are brought into the world.

I believe it was somewhere between 2003-2006 that he and Venessa got married. I’m not 100% sure of that. I do know that they had their first child, Cassie, together I THINK 1999. I THINK (not 100% sure as to the accuracy) he met Venessa some 2-3 years after Selena’s passing. I THINK he met her at a strip club. According to other posts on this forum and others on Latin Gossip that are related, she apparently knew nothing about Selena when she met Chris. She supposedly had no idea who Selena was. I find that VERY hard to believe. I highly doubt that, especially since she has family and is from the Corpus Christi area.
On his other myspace, he had old personal pics of him and Selena under his “Photo Albums” section. It was a combination of pics of him and Selena and other pics, whether it be his band, friends, etc. etc.
There are also rumors that he fathered another baby with a young woman outside of San Antonio. Like I said, they are just rumors and I cannot confirm their accuracy.
He also sold the house he and Selena lived in (probably to help him move on) between 3-5 years after her passing with the help of her [Selena] sister, Suzette.

I think that Chris Perez is living with a ghost. There is no doubt that Selena was a wonderful person but she is gone. I think everyone should just stop with the negative comments. I just finished watching Selena (for the millionth time) and it never fails to strike a chord with me. I cry and get all sad and depressed everytime i listen to her music or watch the movie. As far as Chris and his ex are concerned, I hope that they can both be grown ups and at least be civil towards each other for the sake of their children. I definitely dont think that Vanessa should get money from the boutiques-thats bullshit. I hope Chris finds happiness and doesnt feel the need to fill a void with drugs or alcohol. You really need to tone down your language. Reality is that most marriages end up in divorce, so who knows what really would have happened if Selena had lived.
Selena and Chris probably having children, very possible since she stated in an interview on Cristina a few months before she passed away that they had planned on having children but that wasn’t going to happen anytime soon due to the fact that they were in the prime of their career and she wanted to make sure that she was going to be there for her children because she didn’t want them raised by anybody other than her.
Reality, she’s passed on, and may her memory live on forever through her beautiful music. Chris moved on, found love, got married, had beautiful children, and is now going through a divorce/divorced. her movie is so sad to watch, and i feel terrible for this man. i didnt even know her on any level other than through her dedication movie and music, and i miss her. i could not even begin to imagine what this man went through and is still grieving. this is something that will live with him forever. to him and all the family, my thoughts and prayers are with you!

It’s been almost 15 years since Selenas passing. At that place and time Chris was meant to be with Selena, and after that he met Vanessa, obviously he found something perfect in her that he had children and married her. Whether you guys want to admit it or not, he loved her enough to do that. He moved on with his life and as unselfish as Selena was she would have wanted him to find love and happiness, and he did. Unfortunately as many people do, he divorced, and life will move on again, he will find someone new. He will always love Selena, no doubt. When you lose your first love it’s hard to replace. He loved Selena in one way and loved Vanessa in another. Just because they’re getting a divorce doesn’t mean that they don’t have some for each other, sometimes things just don’t work out. It may not be the same love that he had for Vanessa at first, but there will always be some sort of love because they share a very strong bond, and that’s children. Marriage is a sacred bond with God, and no matter what was Selena’s legacy, Venessa is to be respected. I can’t even imagine the heartache and grief Chris endured losing Selena. I think it must have been the support of family, friends, and fans that got him through those early years after her passing. But he was just 24 years old when she died. What was he supposed to do? Spend the rest of his life clutching her picture and grieving for her everyday? All of us will endure the loss of a loved one at some point in our lives. When it happens, you come to realize you never get over it. You just get on with it. You get on with the rest of your life. just to give the heads up it took some time to find and it wasnt easy but Selena was pregnant when she died no one new till they did the …. i dont want to say so ill leave it at that but they were expecting and didnt know it…. everyone wishes she was still here but no one knows if it would have lasted we like to think it would but it doesnt always happen that way at least he got 2 kids out of it all maybe not the out come he was looking for but he has a family and im happy for him

Chris loved Selena but he was still a young man and he re-married like so many others would do. It doesn’t mean he forgot Selena but if he goes out at nights he is not happy with his marriage. Chris no doubt misses Selena and I don’t think he will ever forget her. It was a tragic ending to his marriage and he was lonely. Had Selena not been murdered they would still be married today. I believe him to be a good person and no person would want to go thru what he did.

You know, It made me angry for a minute when I learned that he remarried after Selena ONLY because, I love her and I don’t think I could’ve gotten married and had kids with another women. I don’t know why they got divorced but I think if the reason is drugs and partying, then it might be because he’s missing her. At this point, Selena’ been gone for 16 years. When they divorced Selena had been gone for what? 14? It’d been a long time even then but she might’ve been his first love, and she was beautiful inside and out and if it was ME that had lost her, I don’t know WHAT I would do. Okay…bottom line, Chris and Selena were a great couple but that don’t mean she has been in his marriage in thoughts or anything or anyway. So people really need to get over the whole Chris and Selena show…he moved on and like others said, Chris and Selena were good while they lasted but that don’t mean she was his soulmate. Only time will tell who his real soulmate is. Also, talking about drugs, parties, stripping, and never being home isn’t the facts. I do agree that Vanessa should have known how life would be with Chris so she got herself into a marriage she knew might not be that great or last. As for the whole money issue, has anyone ever heard of a prenup? The only people who know why this marriage happened, what happened in it, and why it failed is Chris and Vanessa, and that’s the way it should stay. So quit with all the crap about how it was Chris who did this or it was Vanessa who did that because it is all gossip. Don’t you people all have more important things to do in life…you know like worry about your own families and problems. Really because people are famous doesn’t mean that their personal life should be torn apart under a public microscope. Leave it be and move on with your lives instead. I would like to say that Vanessa and Chris and Selena are probably great people, but do you live with them or know them personally? Her dad believed in her and pushed her and her siblings to be the best they could be. He helped them reach success and her mom stood behind her husband and children to support them as well.
