Calle 13 Want You To Get Educated
Calle 13 has had it with the perception that their reggaeton colleagues portray.
They hate that many of today’s youth are not going to school because they see hear their idols talking about how they grew up in the hood without an education.
Residente tells Primera Hora:
“I emphasize getting an education because I always say: ‘to come after me, you have to study.’ That’s real important for me because I studied and my brother did too. We received our bachelors and masters and we come from the lower class like they do, even though they try to come off as if they’re from the really low class. I come from the lower class and I worked to pay the rent, which is what you do in the lower class. This is the first time that we are starting to enjoy some of the luxuries of life. There is no excuse for not getting an education.”
Amen to that. We totally agree.

I love CALLE 13! They are such GREAT role models for young people. I agree EDUCATION is really important and no matter where your family comes even if you live you can still get an education. Calle 13 shows that you CAN get an education if you try. They are living proof. No one wants to be a un-educated, unsuccessful person their whole live.
RIGHT?

I love it. We need more latin celebrities endorsing school…not McCain. (lol different story) But yes, I also am from a ‘hood’ in NY, and getting an education was definetly the right route to go. On a side note Calle 13’s music is the SHIZNIT! They’re soo unique, always bringing something new to ‘el genero’ with every album…every track. Les deseo suerte! VAYA BORI!!

This group have some nerve and they are giving people the wrong message. They don’t know everyone’s reasoning for not going to school so why put that on other artist. Sure everyone can go to school but at the same time there are circumstances for example if they are taking care of a ill person in their family.
As to other artist well I don’t think they are advertising not to go to school, but simply saying how hard it was to go through life without the education. And in the event you have to go this route don’t give up on your dreams.
I think it is kind of reckless to say what others reggaeton coleagues portray. This group hasn’t walked their these people’s shoes. And if the youth takes it another route then it’s their parents fault for not getting that message through. So stop blaming others and trying to gain media attention for bashing others.
