Bella.jpgThe film Bella, by Mexican director Alejandro Gomez Monteverde and starring Eduardo Versategui, won the People’s Choice Award at the Toronto Film Festival. According to ABC News Online:

It has won the People’s Choice Award, which is often an indicator of future Academy Award nominations.Past recipients of the top prize at Toronto include Oscar Best Picture winners American Beauty, Life is Beautiful and Chariots of Fire. The American-produced Bella has edged out Patrice Leconte’s Mon meilleur ami and the politically charged Dixie Chicks: Shut up and Sing for the award.

So now Latinos are kicking butt in Canada as well. Critics have been praising this film since it first was shown to audiences and I guess the proof is in the pudding in this case. Congratulations to the cast and crew of this film!
