VH1’s Viva Hollywood Looking For Telenovela Star
This sounds like a joke, but, oddly, it isn’t…
VH1 will premiere a new show titled Viva Hollywood where contestants compete to be crowned the next big ‘numero uno telenovela star’.
The show is hosted by Carlos Ponce and Maria Conchita Alonso…and Walter Mercado appears in each episode to give guidance to the participants! Ha!
Celebrity guest judges include : Daisy Fuentes, Cristian De La Fuente, Angelica Vale, Charo, Lorena Rojas, Maria Celeste Arraras, and Perez Hilton.
This has Latin mess written all over it…which is why we’re tuning in. Season premieres April 13th.

There was already a show like this a few years back, I think in Telemundo. The girl that won is Puerto Rican and she is sueing because she never got to lead a telenovela, they sent her to a soap in Colombia to do a minor role.
You should know that Walter Mercado started as a telenovela lead and a dancer in Puerto Rico. He’s probably in his 70’s (really!).
