alfonsoAlfonso Cuaron‘s ‘Roma’ has taken home the Gold Lion at the 2018 Venice Film Festival.

The film festival’s top prize was awarded to the ‘Gravity’ filmmaker by friend Guillermo del Toro, whose ‘The Shape of Water’ took home the Lion last year.

The film, which follows two domestic workers caring for a small family in 1970’s Mexico City, is already building impressive critical buzz. It’s currently set for a Netflix release, but Netflix film chief Scott Stuber is reportedly pushing for a limited theatrical run as well.

The Gold Lion award means the movie has huge Oscars potential. Can’t wait to see it!
